Depakine 200Mg 40 Tab

An effective antiepileptic medication designed to control and prevent various forms of seizures. It works by stabilizing abnormal electrical activity in the brain and is also used in the management of bipolar disorder and migraine prophylaxis.

Indications:
- Epilepsy (generalized or partial seizures).
- Bipolar disorder (mania treatment and prevention of recurrence).

Main Active Ingredient:
- Valproic Acid (200 mg per tablet).

Precautions:
- Use with caution in patients with liver disease or history of hepatic dysfunction.
- Not recommended during pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
- Regular monitoring of liver function and blood counts is required.
- Avoid alcohol consumption during treatment.
- Should be taken exactly as prescribed without sudden discontinuation.

Side Effects:
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
- Weight changes, increased appetite.
- Tremors, dizziness, drowsiness.
- Hair loss (usually reversible).
- Rare: liver toxicity, pancreatitis, low platelet count.

Drug–Drug Interactions:
- May interact with antiepileptics such as phenytoin, carbamazepine, lamotrigine.
- Increases effects of anticoagulants and aspirin.
- Interaction risk with alcohol, antidepressants, and some antibiotics.
